USHER in Court: A judge dismissed a request by the R&B singer’s ex-wife seeking temporary custody of their two children. Tameka Foster Raymond made the request after their 5-year-old son got caught in a pool drain while in the care of the Grammy winner’s aunt. Both Usher and Raymond took the stand in Atlanta Friday.

Anchor Heidi Collins is leaving KMSP

  • August 9, 2013 - 7:53 PM

Heidi Collins, who has sat at the KMSP anchor desk for almost three years, has left the building. Newsroom staff at the Fox affiliate were told Friday afternoon that the Minnesota native, who previously worked for eight years at CNN, would not be returning after her vacation. Her last day on the air was July 29.

“It has been gratifying to contribute to the success of Fox 9 during these three years,” Collins said in a statement. “However, I have decided to explore new opportunities. I am blessed to have several opportunities both in television and global business to pursue. Neither of which will be without my continued non-profit work of 17 years supporting our brave troops and their families.”

KMSP general manager Carol Rueppel offered only a short statement: “We want to thank Heidi for her contributions to the Fox news team and we wish her much success in the future.” It’s the second big shake-up at the local Fox station this year. Bill Dallman left his position as news director to help run Fox Sports One in Los Angeles. No replacement for Collins has been named.

That’s a wrap for Joy Behar

Joy Behar left ABC’s daytime gabfest “The View” on Friday after 16 years. The hourlong farewell included celebrity appearances — Regis Philbin, Meredith Vieira, Joan Rivers, Alan Alda and others — as well as a tribute from co-host Barbara Walters, who discovered Behar doing standup at a birthday tribute for Milton Berle. “I have to thank the most important people — my hair and makeup people,” Behar joked. “The View” is in a period of transition, with Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck both leaving and Walters soon retiring. Jenny McCarthy has been hired as a new co-host.

paisley to return: Country music hitmaker Brad Paisley — consistently one of the most popular and well-reviewed Nashville stars in concert locally — will squeeze in a 2013 date at Xcel Energy Center on Nov. 16. That’s a little late in the year for him to continue calling his concert trek the Beat This Summer Tour, but whatever. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 for $25-$59.75 through Ticketmaster and the X’s box office. Chris Young of “The Man I Want to Be” fame will open. Paisley last packed the X in January 2012 and again in 2010.
