Lynx center Janel McCarville has been diagnosed with a concussion, is listed as day-to-day, and will miss tonight's game with Washington at Target Center.

McCarville was injured early in Minnesota's victory in San Antonio Tuesday. Just 86 seconds into the game, Silver Stars forward/center Danielle Adams hit McCarville in the jaw with her forearm or elbow; McCarville later tweeted she chipped some teeth and felt a little woozy. She left the game and did not return.

According to Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, McCarville felt OK Tuesday night. But, after coming home Wednesday, McCarville took a nap, then woke up with a headache and some sensitivity to light.

Reeve said McCarville felt a little better this morning. Once McCarville is symptom-free, she will have to pass a baseline test, then go through a series of exercises to make sure the symptoms don't return under stress. When she can do that, she will be cleared to play.

In McCarville's place tonight will be Amber Harris, who played well in place of McCarville Tuesday. It will be Harris' first WNBA start.

Reeve thinks Harris is a good matchup with Washington center Michelle Snow. Reeve will have to carefully watch her rotation in the post, making sure Harris, Devereaux Peters and starter Rebekkah Brunson stay fresh. Maya Moore can play some big forward if needed.

Meanwhile, tonight the Lynx get a shot at Washington, one of only two teams that have bested Minnesota this season. Reeve said the team is a good bit different than the one that lost in Washington in early June. It is passing the ball better, creating more open shots, taking fewer contested shots.

"Overall, I think we're better defensively," Reeve said. "And we're more versatile offensively. You'll see us pick on some things, matchup-wise.

I'll get back to you after the game.
