Trophy tales: Muskie times two

Randy Soma, Brookings, S.D.• 51.5-inch muskie •Lake Vermilion
“We had great success on Lake Vermilion trolling for muskies. We hired guide Matt Seifert from Musky Mercenary Guide Service to guide us for two days. Our group caught a total of seven muskies. The highlight was catching two at the same time. My 51.5-inch fish hit first, and we were able to net her just as the leader broke. During that time, a second 46-inch muskie hit Braeden Lueders’ lure as it was motionless on the surface. Matt was able to land both fish in the same net, creating memories that will last a lifetime.”
Grace Swiggum, 8, of Hopkins caught this 17-inch largemouth bass on Shirt Lake near Deerwood.
Chaucer Countryman, 10, of Minnetonka caught and released this 18-inch largemouth bass on Lake Minnetonka with a rod and reel he won at a Fur Fin & Feather Club outing. “The fish was diving and moving all over the place, and my new rod worked great,” he reported.
