LINCOLN, Neb. — A woman who used information about her boyfriend's ex-wife for a bogus posting on a bondage sex dating website has been sentenced to two years of probation in Nebraska.
Kelley Haag, 29, was sentenced Monday. She had pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor stalking charge after prosecutors lowered the charge from felony terroristic threats, the Lincoln Journal Star said (http://bit.ly/16wWS22) .
At sentencing, Haag told the judge she was "very, very sorry."
Police said a 33-year-old Lincoln woman reported last fall that someone had posted her name and picture on a dating website aimed at people looking for bondage and rough sex. The details included in the posting were specific and frightening, the woman said. They included the address where she lived with her children, information about her hair salon — even the name of her family's pet.
A call from a man who had seen the posting and wanted to come to her salon for a haircut spooked the woman into calling police.
Investigators obtained a court order to get information from the dating site, and they found messages from the person who set up the account. The messages had been sent to several men, telling them to come in for a haircut and sex.
The messages were tracked to Haag's work computer. Investigators soon learned she was living in Waverly and dating the Lincoln woman's former husband. Haag now lives near Minneapolis.
At the sentencing hearing on Monday, prosecutor Dan Packard said Haag's action "was unprovoked, which makes it more egregious," and added that Haag was inviting sexual assault of the woman.
