A body, believed to be that of a 76-year-old Hugo man who never returned from a walk last week, was found in the city on Sunday afternoon.

Members of a search term looking for Radivoje "Ray" Novakovic contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office shortly before 3:30 after finding the body of an elderly man.

The Sheriff's Office is working on the case with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office and has spoken with the Novakovic family.

Community members and other volunteers called off the search for the evening, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Novakovic was last seen July 21 as he set out for his usual 3- to 4-mile walk. When he didn't return, family members began a search, then called the Sheriff's Office about three hours later.

Novakovic had diabetes, which could cause him to become disoriented, and he also had a mild bipolar disorder.
