Packers expect 17K shareholders at annual meeting

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers are expecting more than 17,000 shareholders at their annual meeting at Lambeau Field this year.

The meeting begins Wednesday morning and is expected to last about two hours. Afterward attendees can take self-guided tours of recent stadium improvements, including the new south end zone.

Shareholders who can't attend in person can watch the meeting online on a password-protected webcast.

The Packers are the NFL's only publicly owned team. Fans become shareholders by buying shares of stock during one of the team's infrequent stock sales. The last one wrapped up last year, when more than 268,000 people bought shares for $250 apiece.

Buyers gain the privilege of calling themselves NFL owners, even though the stock value doesn't go up and there are no dividends.
