DICKINSON, N.D. — The federal government has cited Halliburton for safety violations in the death of a worker in the western North Dakota oil fields.

Mike Krajewski, 49, of Duluth, Minn., died Jan. 19 when a pipe struck him in the head at an oil rig site north of Watford City.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration concluded that Halliburton failed to maintain a safe worksite and is proposing $14,000 in fines.

Houston-based Halliburton can contest the fines. Company spokeswoman Susie McMichael tells The Dickinson Press (http://bit.ly/17iynEM ) that the company is reviewing the matter.
