MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker says he's pleased the U.S. Department of Agriculture is keeping cranberry juice on school lunch menus.

The Agriculture Department had considered requiring schools to reduce or eliminate cranberry juice because of added sugar.

But recently released school lunch rules do not include that provision.

Walker said in a statement Monday that that's good news for students and the Wisconsin cranberry industry. Wisconsin is the leading cranberry producer, followed by Massachusetts.

Walker's office says he drinks cranberry juice almost daily.

The governor says he still has concerns about the new rules' limits on dairy products.

Schools must meet the new lunch standards by next July.
