WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — John Daly withdrew from The Greenbrier Classic golf tournament in West Virginia and tweeted later that he needed elbow surgery and would be away from golf for up to four months.
Daly withdrew at 7 over after playing just three holes Friday. He shot a 5-over 75 Thursday on the Old White TPC Course.
The PGA said Daly withdrew with an elbow injury. Daly said later on Twitter that he would have surgery next week and miss three to four months. He followed with another tweet saying he had a "bionic new arm coming soon."
Daly, who played at Arkansas, bogeyed the par-4 10th hole and the par-5 12th on Friday. He birdied No. 12 on Thursday.
