Lynx-Los Angeles game preview

9:30 p.m. at Los Angeles • NBA-TV, 106.1-FM

Lynx at a glance: This will be the third time in 12 days these two teams have met. The Sparks won in a blowout in L.A. on June 21, while the Lynx returned the favor Friday at Target Center. “They’ve been terrific at home,” Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said of the Sparks, 5-0 at Staples Center. “We’ve been a good road team, but to win out in L.A. we have to be a great road team.” The Lynx have lost three in a row and nine of their past 10 games in Los Angeles. Reeve is looking for a strong start, unlike the June 21 game when the Sparks ran them out of the gym in the first half. Reeve is looking for more from frontcourt players Rebekkah Brunson (6-for-18 on FGs in her last three games) and Janel McCarville (1-for-5 vs. L.A. on Friday).

Sparks at a glance: L.A. figures to be very up for this game after losing back-to-back road games. The Sparks — unbeaten at home but winless on the road — lost at Chicago on Saturday to drop to 5-4. PG Lindsey Harding has struggled with her shot, going 5-for-23 during her team’s two-game losing streak. Fellow guard Kristi Toliver (6-for-19) also has struggled with her shot the past two games. F/C Candace Parker, though, has played well, averaging 20 points, nine rebounds and 4.7 assists over the past three games.
