TV picks for June 30-July 4: 'Celebrity Wife Swap, 'Siberia,' 'Mount Rushmore,' more
- June 29, 2013 - 2:26 AM
During their days as tag-team wrestlers, Ric Flair and Rowdy Roddy Piper knew all about switching partners. But how does it work in the real world on “Celebrity Wife Swap” (7 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5)? Vince McMahon did not write the script for this one.
Need a break from the heat and humidity? Then check out the pilot of “Siberia” (9 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11), on which 16 contestants are deposited in the Siberian wilderness wearing only the clothes on their back. It’s Survivor, Russian style.
It’s the patriotic duty of every Minnesotan to visit the Black Hills. If you can’t make it this summer, tune in to “Mount Rushmore: American Experience” (8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2) to hear how sculptor Gutzon Borglum immortalized the fab four — George, Tom, Abe and Teddy.
Jane Lynch, everyone’s favorite teacher on “Glee,” talks about her new NBC game show, “Hollywood Game Night” on “Live With Kelly and Michael” (9 a.m., KSTP, Ch. 5). Wonder if they’ll ask about Lynch’s recent split from her wife? The show’s other guest, Nicole Murphy, co-star of VH1’s “Hollywood Exes,” certainly knows about being an ex-wife.
Celebrate Independence Day from our nation’s capital with host Tom Bergeron and “A Capitol Fourth” (7 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2). Except for Barry Manilow, these singers are all made-by-TV stars: Candice Glover and Scotty McCreery from “American Idol,” Darren Criss from “Glee,” Megan Hilty from “Smash” and PBS sensation Jackie Evancho. There will be fireworks, too. jon bream
