As plans for the new $975 million Vikings stadium begin to take shape, it's interesting to see how other communities building stadiums are faring across the country.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that the cost to build the San Francisco 49ers new stadium is rising about $100 million – to $1.3 billion. The team plans to use the most-recent cash infusion to install new tech features in the Silicon Valley venue.

The overall price for Levi's Stadium has jumped $336 million in three years, not because of cost overruns, the team maintains, but unspecified new elements to enhance the fan experience, the Mercury News states.

The previous cost of $1.2 billion for the Santa Clara, Calif., stadium nearly tied Cowboys Stadium as the second most-expensive stadium in the NFL. The New York Jets and Giants' MetLife stadium tops that list at $1.6 billion.

And in Atlanta, various media outlets are reporting that the Atlanta Falcons have selected a partnership of Arizona-based Hunt Construction Group and Holder Construction of Atlanta as the general contractor to build its new retractable roof stadium.

Hunt has built Busch Stadium, Citi Field, Lucas Oil Stadium, Marlins Park, Nationals Park and the University of Phoenix Stadium. The Atlanta stadium would be the 15th NFL stadium Hunt has constructed in the past two decades, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
