Former Minnesota state Sen. Mee Moua will appear with President Obama at the White House this morning to tout a proposal that would overhaul the nation's immigration system.
Moua, the president and executive director of the Asian American Justice Center, will join a coalition of immigration supporters to stump for a bill under consideration in the U.S. Senate.
The bill would tighten border security and require all employers to check their workers' legal status as well as initiate new or revised visa programs for workers.
The Senate is scheduled to take procedural votes today to that will allow debate on the legislation, which also includes a 13-year path to citizenship for an estimated 11 million immigrants who are in the country illegally.
