Starting on Wednesday, lanes along an 8-mile stretch of Hwy. 36 between North St. Paul and Oak Park Heights will be restricted during non-rush-hour times.

The project includes minor grading and resurfacing on the road, revising signal timings, and adding traffic management signs. Completion is expected in late August, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Starting June 1, at 6 a.m., both eastbound lanes on Hwy. 36 between Viking Drive and I-694 will be closed, with traffic diverted to Hwy. 5. The lanes will open at 10 p.m. on June 2.

The lanes are closing so crews can install a new drainage pipe at Viking Pond, part of the project replacing the stoplight at Hilton Trail with an interchange.

Hwy. 36 between White Bear Avenue and Hwy. 61 are scheduled to be closed for several weeks to build an interchange at that busy Maplewood intersection.
