#/Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Hava Cigar (Von, Chambers)123/9-2

2: Three Buttons Down (Ochoa, McFarlane)123/7-2

3: Franks On Fire (Canchari, Riecken)123/9-5

4: Big Bad Force (Goodwin, Hartman)123/8-1

5: The Flying Whizzer (Stevens, Green)123/4-1

6: Uno Mos Bluff (Eikleberry, Blair)123/5-1

FRANKS ON FIRE gets class relief and cuts back in distance shipping up from Oaklawn, where as a group, the shippers from Arkansas ran the best opening weekend. Should get perfect pace scenario up front to close on. THE FLYING WHIZZER drops in class with good early speed as he showed at Sunland Park where he won two back getting the win after dueling down the stretch. UNOS MOS BLUFF returns to home track where lone two wins came in gate-to-wire fashion.

2 6 furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, Claiming $15,000, Purse: $14,000.

1: Know No Somerset (Eikleberry, Donlin)123/6-1

2: Perfect Ablation (Velazquez, Scherer)123/5-1

3: Ghost Skier (Butler, Bravo)123/3-1

4: Vic the Kick (Stevens, Bethke)123/9-2

5: Musical Deputy (Keith, Biehler)123/4-1

6: Desert Prize (Meier, Rengstorf)123/5-2

MUSICAL DEPUTY returns from a 9 month layoff with a series of good works. Consistent speedball runner who hit the board in all 7 starts here last year. GHOST SKIER is another consistent early speed runner off the long layoff. Has the ability to sit off the speed favoring pace before attacking if ready. PERFECT ABLATION comes in with a solid training tab after two lackluster performances last fall at Hawthorne. View as contender if returns to form he ran here last season.

3 5 furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, Claiming $20,000, Purse: $18,000.

1: Salt Lake Flyer (Eikleberry, Hanson)119/8-1

2: Tempe (Ochoa, Schnell)114/6-1

3: Franz (Keith, Biehler)119/8-1

4: Cash Call Al (Stevens, O'Callaghan)119/9-2

5: In Jeopardy (Martin, Burgess)123/7-2

6: Mister Bernstein (Bell, Robertson)123/2-1

7: Chatty Lou (Escobar, Canchari)123/12-1

8: Pirate's Dare (Velazquez, Laing)119/12-1

CASH CALL AL faced tougher in lone turf start after chasing the pace up front at Golden Gate. Last race was educational and should be set to fire today if race stays on the grass. Favorite MISTER BERNSTEIN has one win and two place finishes on this course from last season and would love to see heated pace with his closing style. IN JEOPARDY could prove tough in first turf start coming out of a live heat at Oaklawn. Puts the blinkers on with a bullet workout coming in.

4 7½ furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, Maiden special weight, Purse: $25,000.

7: Rock Hard Legacy (Martin, Berndt)119/10-1

8: Dear Hrishi (Rivera, Van)123/12-1

9: Chasen a Star (Velazquez, Silva)119/20-1

10: Adonica (Keith, Biehler)119/4-1

11: Daring Ride (Eikleberry, Padilla)119/15-1

BITTER TEARS has a strong opportunity to set a moderate pace as lone speed up front and steal this race. Lost last two in Tampa as the front runner but now cuts back in distance. ADONICA makes turf debut tonight while plunging in class. Look for the filly to be flying late with with Lori Keith aboard. THE GRANS has slipped and pulled up in last two tries but could improve if regains form from previous grass races at Santa Anita where she faced tons better.

5 6 furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, Allowance, Purse: $27,000.

1: Borealis Way (Vergara, Lund)123/4-1

2: Royal Mocha (Olesiak, Smith)119/4-1

3: Claypool (Bell, Schnell)119/9-2

4: Why Frank (Rivera, Oliver)123/7-2

5: Smokem Gray (Eikleberry, Scherbenske)123/6-1

6: National (Stevens, Silva)123/5-2

NATIONAL won three in a row before getting squeezed at the rail trying to sneak through at Santa Anita before weakening to fifth in a 5 horse field. Trainer Silva does well with his 1st time claimers and should enjoy the outside post tonight. WHY FRANK comes off a grass stakes race five months ago to a much softer return here on the dirt. Will be tough if within striking range in final furlong. SMOKEM GRAY had troubled start last out two weeks backs after long layoff. I'll give a pass on that return race.

6 1 mile, 3-year-olds and up, Claiming $6,250, Purse: $12,000.

1: Monstrip (Rhone, Arterburn)123/4-1

2: Perfect Fashion (Von, Chambers)123/7-2

3: Sam's Grindstone (Butler, Rengstorf)123/5-1

4: Collating Lady (Eikleberry, Silva)123/2-1

5: Bloomtown Baby (Olesiak, Smith)123/6-1

6: Alexassilvercharm (Goodwin, Smith)123/5-1

PERFECT FASHION has paid dividends her last 8 races at Golden gate and now gets new trainer Mike Chambers who is a high percentage trainer sending out his claimers first time out. COLLATING LADY returns to second run on dirt after 7 efforts on the lawn at Turf Paradise while enjoying a drop in class. SAM'S GRINDSTONE returns after eight month layoff here where the mare won 2 of her 6 starts being on or near the lead. Might need a race with to stretch her legs.

7 6 furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, Claiming $6,250, Purse: $11,000.

#/Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Buccella (Vergara, Lund)123/12-1

2: Strategic Star (Arroyo, Riecken)123/12-1

3: Cherryful Lady (Escobar, Canchari)123/15-1

7: Aprettyunderstudy (Canchari, Berndt)119/7-2

8: M C Selena (Goodwin, Brueggemann)123/6-1

9: Seemebythesea (Butler, Bolinger)123/6-1

10: Miss Luna (Martin, Rarick)119/8-1

M C SELENA was never a factor last out in first race of 2013 but should prove to be tougher opponent on a dry surface coming off the pace in a hopeful heated pace duel up front. APRETTYUNDERSTUDY is all speed who will look to lead the group as far as she can go. Won last out by over two lengths going 6½ furlongs. INTERCOMPANY LOAN may find herself dueling up front with Aprettyunderstudy after dictating the pace last out in a route race before getting edged out at the end.

8 5½ furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, Claiming $4,000, Purse: $9,000.

1: Dalamar (Bell, McKenzie)121/8-1

2: Ful Da Funk (Escobar, Gaede)123/6-1

3: Vaundell (Franco, Diodoro)119/4-1

4: Littlebrownroad (Martin, Berndt)119/5-1

5: Sugar Storm (Butler, Rengstorf)119/10-1

6: Outoftheclouds (Vergara, Lund)119/12-1

7: No Team Spirit (Von, Chambers)121/9-2

8: Jimmy Got Even (Canchari, Berndt)121/5-2

JIMMY GOT EVEN will look to close from the outside post gaining on the front runners wearing them down as he has done in his last four consecutive victories at Hawthorne. Should get the perfect pace set up to move forward once again. LITTLE BROWNROAD is a deep closer who will be picking them off late and too would benefit with contested fractions. VAUNDELL invades from Santa Anita with decent early foot where he faced much better. Doesn't need the lead but should take it here and go as far as he can.
