It was an interesting Tuesday at Target Center. The Lynx finished their preseason, with center Janel McCarville out with a sprained left ankle, with a rather lackluster loss to Connecticut, with NBA star Kevin Durant in town to watch.

Chip Scoggins did a nice blog on Durant's visit, and the Oklahoma City Thunder star's generous donation to the Red Cross in the wake of the tornado that tore through an Oklahoma City suburb Monday. You can read it here:

Here are some thoughts on the 88-80 loss:

--I wonder if McCarville -- who has battled some other aches and pains during camp -- has been with her new team enough to have developed a strong chemistry with the rest of the starting lineup. Coach Cheryl Reeve didn't seem too concerned on this point, but I wonder. I think it's important that McCarville -- who was feeling much better Tuesday after rolling her ankle Monday -- get back to practice soon as the team prepares for its June 1 opener.

--The rest of the Lynx usual starters played very well. Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus were both 6-for-7 from the field. Maya Moore was 5-for-8 and Rebekkah Brunson scored eight points with 10 rebounds. If there was a nit to pick with the starters, though, it was a lack of rebounding from players not named Brunson.

--The second unit still needs some work. Monica Wright was up and down. She scored nine points and had four assists, but she also turned the ball over six times. Devereaux Peters struggled from the field (2-for-8), though she did grab nine rebounds.

--Judging from the minutes played, it appears Rachel Jarry and Sugar Rodgers have a good chance of making the team, as does first-round draft pick Lindsey Moore, who missed the game with a sore calf. Jacki Gemelos did not play, Shawnice Wilson played 5-plus minutes and Chucky Jeffery played just 2:42.

That's about it for now. I'll get back to you after tomorrow's practice.
