This is the second series of the season between the clubs. They met last month in Chicago in a series that was shorted to two games because of inclement weather; the Twins won both games. … Joe Mauer has turned things around in a hurry, batting .444 during his 11-game hitting streak. He has raised his batting average by 59 points over his past seven games. … With Kyle Gibson pitching better at Class AAA Rochester, Hernandez could come under more scrutiny if he continues to struggle. … The Twins have won four of their past six games.
WHITE SOX UPDATE
Peavy appears to be in good health now after missing a start recently because of a sore back. He returned to action Wednesday and pitched six innings against the Yankees. … Chicago doesn’t have much pitching depth. John Danks is recovering from shoulder surgery and Gavin Floyd is out for 14 to 19 months after having Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery last week. … Outfielder Dayan Viciedo (left oblique) was activated from the disabled list on Friday.
