Draft drawing hurts Wolves

When it comes to NBA draft drawings, the Wolves can find a way to lose even when they’re not directly in involved.

The NBA conducted its blind draw Friday for teams that finished with identical regular-season records. Memphis lost a draw with the L.A. Clippers to determine the Nos. 25 and 26 picks in the first round. The Wolves, with a long history of bad luck in the NBA lottery, own the Memphis pick.

The Wolves are currently slotted to draft No. 9 overall based on their record, but their final spot will be determined by the May 21 lottery. Minnesota has a 1.7 percent chance of winning the No. 1 overall pick but could also, as mathematically improbable as it is, fall as low as No. 12.

The Wolves also have two second-round picks: Nos. 52 and 59.
