A water main break in Wayzata is forcing the closure Monday of a well-traveled road along the northeastern edge of Lake Minnetonka, a Hennepin County official said Sunday.

Nearly 2 miles of Bushaway Road (County Rd. 101), from McGinty Road south to Minnetonka Boulevard, will be closed starting at 9 a.m. Monday to allow for repairs to the break about a half-mile south of McGinty, said county spokeswoman Carolyn Marinan.

In the meantime, municipal crews have "throttled down the main pressure and will monitor the leak for the remainder of the weekend," Marinan said.

Marinan did not say how long the closure will keep traffic off of the road, which weaves between Wayzata Bay to the west of Bushaway Road and Grays Bay to the east, but she added that a city's public works official "is hopeful that this will be . . . completed by 4 p.m. Monday."
