Well, that didn't last long.
After just eight months, Primebar in Calhoun Square called it quits on Sunday night.
The stylish Chicago-based restaurant and bar opened in July, and while it had the advantage of some prime Lake-and-Hennepin real estate, it was also following a pretty tough act. Not Il Gatto, the short-lived Italian restaurant that briefly preceded it, but the ghost of Figlio, the location's original longtime (25-plus years) tenant.
Primebar's demise hasn't generated a ton of details, other than parent company Restaurants-America has pulled the restaurant's website and phone, and posted the following message on its Twitter account: "To our loyal guests: Unfortunately, we had to close our doors yesterday. We're sorry to say goodbye, and thank . . ."
For those interested in pursuing the restaurant's craft beer emphasis, look no further than upstairs at Republic, which, by the way, has a new chef: Keven Kvalsten, formerly of Napa Valley Grille and the Twisted Fork Grille..
