Three quick postgame thoughts:
1. P.J. Walters: He hasn't pitched more than three innings but will be stretched out now to give the Twins another option to consider for the rotation. It might be tough to get his arm ready for 85-90 pitches in a week, though.
2. The Twins felt Kevin Corriea threw better on Saturday. I agree to a certain point. He executed pitches better and was around the plate more. He had some long battles - which is going to happen to pitches who don't finish off hitters - and, yes the wind was blowing out. But he's got to throw more strikes. Brian Dozier and Pedro Florimon have played their tails off this spring in the field, and Aaron Hicks has run down nearly everything in center. He should be confident to throw the ball down and over the plate. The gloves behind him can back him up. When runners get on base against him his games slow down.
3. Hicks made a splendid running catch of Desmond Jennings' drive in the fifth that drew applause from Rays fans. Hicks was supposed to call for the ball that just dropped beyond Darin Mastroianni's reach in the second. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Mastroianni called for the ball, and Hicks backed off, but Gardy said Hicks should have taken charge there. As it turned out, the wind blew the ball away from Mastroianni and toward Hicks.
