The streak is over.
Drew Horwood, a Maple Grove native who fought his way into “Jeopardy!” history, lost Friday after eight straight victories on the TV game show. In 29 seasons, only four contestants have done better.
Nonetheless, he ended up with more than $138,000, which he plans to use to pay off his college loans and visit New Zealand.
The all-time champ of the show since it was revived in 1984 is Ken Jennings, who lasted 74 days.
