BERLIN - A man has opened fire at a police station in Germany as he was taken to be fingerprinted, shooting two police officers in the leg before he was overwhelmed by their colleagues.
Andreas Buick, a spokesman for prosecutors in the central city of Goettingen, told n-tv television the incident occurred Friday after the 43-year-old man was arrested on a warrant from a local court. He didn't identify the man or say what he was arrested for.
At the police station, he managed to get hold of an officer's weapon and immediately opened fire. Two officers were hit in the leg and taken to hospitals.
Other officers then overwhelmed the shooter, who was taken into custody.
