Mel Gittleman, a pioneer on the Minneapolis development scene, died recently at 83. Gittleman had a long and colorful career in the Twin Cities. He developed several condo and apartment buildings in Minneapoiis during the 1970s and 1980s, including Marquette Place, which I mentioned in a recent story about two new luxury high-rise apartment buildings that are under construction in the Twin Cities.

Gittleman was also a steadfast champion of multi-family living, and his family retains deep connections to the Twin Cities real estate community. His wife, Chelle, has been a long-time sales agent for Edina Realty; sons, Andrew and Mark, run Gittleman Management, one of the nation's largest community association management companies. Here's a link to an obituary that was published in the Star Tribune.
