Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom was named by the NHL as the third star of the week after going 3-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage in three appearances.

It is the fourth time Backstrom has been named a star of the week.

Backstrom had 20 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory against Calgary Feb. 26, then made 25 saves in a 4-3 victory over Phoenix two days later. Sunday against Edmonton, Backstrom stopped 19 of 21 shots in the Wild's 4-2 victory over the Oilers, a victory that improved his record to 17-0-0 against Edmonton at home, the second-longest home winning streak against one team by any goaltender in NHL history.

Montreal left wing Max Pacioretty was named the league's first star after recording at least one point in all four of his games. Boston center Patrice Bergeron, who had five assists and seven points in four games last week, was the No. 2 star.
