Tsk, tsk tusks

When you think of elephants, you may conjure up images of Dumbo flying or Horton hearing a Who. In China, certain merchants think first of valuable tusks. “Battle for the Elephants” (8 p.m., PBS) examines how the demand for ivory is leading to the brutal slaughter of African elephants.

Boston’s not-so common

Mark Wahlberg isn’t the only one in the family with a hankering to produce. Brother Donnie Wahlberg is backing “Boston’s Finest” (8 p.m., TNT), a reality series that follows the actions of the city’s entire police department, including its celebrated gang unit.

The haunted

“Stranded” (9 p.m., Syfy) takes a page out of “The Blair Witch Project” by “abandoning” three participants in a haunted location, armed only with handheld cameras, food and a CD featuring the theme song from “Scooby-Doo.” If this team really wants to be frightened, I suggest they stay home and watch “Honey Boo Boo.”
