Quick Q&A: Zach Lindquist, senior, basketball, football

Talk about the basketball season so far. I'm really excited. Our team has had a really good year. We're second in the [Classic Suburban] conference, and we've beaten everybody except St. Thomas Academy at least once.

With your size (6-4, 240 pounds), do you play mostly inside? My main goal is to get good shots and layups. My size helps against the less-thick basketball players. But I also like to trail and shoot the three-pointer. Kind of an inside/outside game.

You are going to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for football. Why? It's a school I'm really going to enjoy. I like its high academic standing and the prestige. I thought it was a better fit for me than some of the other schools.

What position? They're bringing me in as a tight end.

Ready to give up basketball? I'm really going to miss it. I've never favored one sport over the other, but I have a more football-type body. I'm a little undersized for basketball at the next level.

Going to a military academy involves a large commitment. What is that? I have to serve five years after I graduate. I came to the conclusion that I'm willing to do that. It's worth it to me.

Ready for the higher altitude in Colorado Springs? It's something I'm going to have to get used to. I've heard it takes a couple of months to get used to it.
