Five Gophers wrestlers registered major decisions and Cody Yohn, the lone senior in the Senior Day lineup, won by fall in a 32-6 dual-meet victory over Michigan State on Sunday afternoon at the Sports Pavilion.

After dropping the first bout in overtime, Nick Dardanes (141 pounds) and Dylan Ness (149) answered with consecutive major decision that put the Gophers ahead to stay. Yohn drew big cheers when he pinned Spartans 165-pounder Nick Proctor at 1 minute, 24 seconds.

In the heavier weights, Logan Storley bested Jordan Wohlfert at 174 pounds by a 13-4 score in a major decision, followed by Kevin Steinhaus' defeat of John Rizqallah with the day's largest margin of victory (15-2). At 197, Scott Schiller provided the team's fifth and final major decision, 11-3 over Luke Jones.

Minnesota improved to 12-2, 6-1 in the Big Ten. Michigan State is 4-11 and 0-7.

Etc. • Winona's Elliot Heath placed fourth overall in the USA Cross-Country championships on Saturday in St. Louis, running the 12-kilometer course in 35 minutes, 56.1 seconds. Former Gopher Hassan Mead was 13th in 36:37.1.

• Leandro Toledo, Mathieu Froment and Jack Hamburg won singles matches, but the Gophers men's tennis team was swept in doubles in a 4-3 loss at Tulsa. ... Natallia Pintusava and Tereza Brichacova won at first and second singles for the lone victories for the Gophers women in a 5-2 loss at Virginia Tech.
