Preview: The Timberwolves ended a season-long, six-game losing streak with a blowout victory over New Orleans on Saturday. Now they get to try to beat Portland for the first time this season. The Blazers, who have won both games between the two teams this season, have won two of their past three games and four of their past six.
Players to watch: Wolves F Dante Cunningham was 9-for-9 vs. New Orleans, with a team-high 18 points. PG Ricky Rubio has averaged 10.3 points and 6.5 assists while shooting 46.9 percent his past four games. Blazers guard Damian Lillard has scored 48 points in two victories over the Wolves this season. F Nicolas Batum is seventh in the league with 109 three-pointers. He had 26 points vs. the Wolves Jan. 5.
Numbers: If Cunningham hits his first four shots, his streak will go to 13, which would tie a franchise record. ... Portland has won 19 of the past 21 games vs. the Wolves. ... Portland tied a franchise record with 16 three-pointers vs. Minnesota Jan. 5.
Injuries: Wolves F Kevin Love (hand surgery), F Chase Budinger (knee surgery), G Malcolm Lee (knee and hip surgery) and G Brandon Roy (right knee) are out. Blazers G Wesley Matthews (right ankle), F Sasha Pavlovic (left foot) and G Ronnie Price (right ankle) are questionable. G Elliot Williams (left Achilles tendon) is out.
