Train in vain

The title "VHI's Best Super Bowl Concert Ever" (8 p.m. Friday, VH1) suggests that Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney and the ghost of Janis Joplin are all going to jam together. Alas, the headliner for this bash is Train. Nice band, but if that's all you can get, please go with the title "VH1's Most Mediocre Super Bowl Concert Ever."

Don't Bogart that joint

Hunting for a definition of a movie star? Look no further than this dynamite double feature of 1942's "Casablanca" (7 p.m. Saturday, TCM) and 1941's "The Maltese Falcon" (9 p.m. Saturday, TCM), both of which present Humphrey Bogart at his captivating best.

Re-evaluating the case

I wasn't crazy about the early episodes of "Elementary" (9 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4), but after watching the show evolve, I can see why CBS decided to place it in the post-Super Bowl spot. Keep in mind that the episode might start late depending on the length of the football game.

Crushing Crescent City

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees may not be playing in the Big Game, but he's part of the starting lineup of "The Craig Ferguson Super Bowl Special" (10:35 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4). Steve Carell, Julie Chen and Neil Patrick Harris are also part of this party, being held in New Orleans' famed Jackson Square.
