Tiger Woods definitely seems to have a type, and Lindsey Vonn fits the bill.

A rumored romance between the golf megastar, a world famous off-course cheat, and the Olympic gold medal skier of Twin Cities origin was among the most-searched items on the web Thursday, according to NBC's "Today Show."

The official word on the romance given to the Star Tribune, and any other media outpost asking, by Vonn's spokesperson reads:

"Lindsey is currently in the midst of the World Cup season in Europe. Her focus is solely on competing and defending her titles, and thus she will not participate in any speculation surrounding her personal life at this time."

That's not exactly a That's preposterous! There is no truth to this rumor.

The speculation about a romance has been fueled by the globetrotting athletes, Woods and Vonn, apparently turning up in the same exotic locales.

Believed to have been dating since November, Golf.com says that rumors churned up again when Woods dropped into Salzburg, Austria, on the way to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

"In November, Woods was in Vail at the same time as Vonn, but she denied that they were seeing each other. 'We are just friends,' she told the Denver Post. 'My brother was the ski instructor for his kids this November in Vail. Guessing that's where it came from,' " read Golf.com

If this romance is real, there are probably some Tiger sex jokes that Vonn now wishes she hadn't made. Vonn made the unguarded remarks during an appearance on the same day thatWoods publicly apologized for the cheat-fest that led to Elin Nordegren divorcing him.

According to Time.com, Vonn ruminated about a skit she'd like to perform were she hosting "Saturday Night Live."

While Woods was at the podium, Vonn would solemnly intone: "There's something you don't know about me. Tiger, you're like my idol, and I too have a sex problem."

I guest you had to be there to understand the joke.

But if they are dating, surely Vonn needed to reveal up front to him the sport she had with his personal -- albeit self-inflicted -- tragedy.

About a week ago, the hot rumor on the Internet was that Woods was trying to woo back his ex-wife, the mother of his two children. Personally, I'm pulling for "Elin and Tiger: The Mulligan" because that's easier on the kids. I also do believe Woods has learned his lesson.

But Vonn would be an excellent fit, too, if you're into beautiful blondes. And Tiger has been (although many hair colors were represented in the retinue of women who came forward to say they slept with Woods).

Like Woods, Vonn is divorced. She does not have any children. She understands the hot lights of celebrity and tolerates them better than Nordegren did.

And while Vonn may not be as pathologically private as Woods, whose spokesperson would not respond to the gossip, Lindsey likes to keep her personal life private.
