Details: In another sign of an uptick in suburban new-home construction, single-family housing developer Ryland Homes has received approval from the Savage Planning Commission to complete its Dan Patch Trail subdivision.
The builder, which took over the stalled project in 2010 from its bankrupt original developer, has submitted plans for 22 new lots in the third and final phase of the 111-lot Dan Patch project, which was given final plat approval Jan. 10 by the Savage panel.
Construction is mostly complete in the first phase, with work continuing in the second phase, Savage City Planner Bryan Tucker said.
The site is west of Burnsville's Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve. Ryland has petitioned the city to create a trail along the south side of the final addition connecting it to the preserve area.
The builder is offering nine styles of homes, ranging from 1,309 to 2,185 square feet, with prices ranging from $229,990 to $286,990 -- similar to the first two additions.
Tucker said smaller single-family homes such as those in the Dan Patch subdivision are increasingly popular, noting the city saw its 2009 total of 15 single-family home permits jump to 120 last year -- a level not seen in the city since 2001.
The Savage City Council is set to review the final plat on Tuesday.
