Which irises from among more than 300 species thrive in a northern climate? Local iris experts will hold a class on "Gardening With Iris," highlighting plants for all types of gardens, 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Minnesota State Horticultural Society, 2705 Lincoln Dr., Roseville. Picture perfect

Aspiring nature photographers can learn from members of the Arboretum Photographers Society (APS) at free photo clinics from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays in January and February in the Oswald Visitor Center. After the clinic, head outdoors to capture the beauty of winter or get inspired by "The Larger Perspective," APS juried show and sale, which continues through March 31.
