The annual Frozen River Film Festival Jan. 23-27 at Winona State University features more than 40 full-length, short and documentary films, plus speakers, workshops and live jazz. Films include "The Price of Sand," an in-depth look at frac-sand mining in Minnesota and Wisconsin; "Nourishing the Kids of Katrina: The Edible Schoolyard," featuring a chef's food program for children affected by Hurricane Katrina, and "Vanishing Bees," an investigative look at the ecological and economical impact of the decline of honeybees.
