They're paying lots of attention to Tyus -- in North Carolina

In North Carolina, college basketball is king in a way that it has never been in Minnesota. One measure of that hugeness is the amount of attention being paid to Tyus Jones, the Apple Valley junior point guard who is widely considered the top player in his graduating class.
On Tuesday, the Devils in Durham blog published a game report from Saturday's Timberwolves Shootout at Target Center that began: "Over the weekend, the potential future of Duke basketball went head-to-head in the battle of two of the top players in Minnesota high school basketball."
The two were Jones and Cooper's Rashad Vaughn, which was enough of an attraction that you could find, among others, Tubby Smith and Roy Williams, spending time in the front row at Target Center.
Since Halloween, the Devils blog has posted seven stories about Jones.
Not to be outdone, the Duke subscription site, Devils Den, has published separate interviews with Jones and his mothers since the start of this year. Here's the directory of the Den's coverage of Jones.
Upload's helpful web hint: As much as you'll be able to read about Jones at startribune.com and other local web sites, if you want to increase your Tyus literacy, you'll probably want to keep up with him through the fan sites of the teams on his college list.
