Taking Off: Know your national parks
- January 5, 2013 - 1:03 PM
It's rare to travel to any U.S. destination without there being a national park nearby. Each of our country's 58 scenic gems is special. A great handbook to them all is "National Geographic Guide to National Parks of the United States" ($26), updated last year. The book's 380 color photographs and 80 color maps can help you plan your trip -- or inspire one. Those 62 and over, take note: A lifetime senior pass to national parks costs $10 and can be purchased at any national park.
