A pickup truck crossed the median of an icy interstate highway in eastern North Dakota and collided with a semitrailer truck late Wednesday morning in a crash that killed all six people in the smaller vehicle, authorities said.
The wreck occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 94 in Jamestown, according to the Highway Patrol.
Three of the six people in the pickup were thrown from the vehicle, the patrol added. All six were males "of various ages," the report said.
The patrol has yet to release the identities of those killed or to say where the westbound pickup was from.
The semi's driver, a 23-year-old man from Mandan, N.D., was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The big rig struck the pickup flush on the passenger side and came to rest in the median, while the totaled pickup ended up in a ditch along the eastbound lanes, the patrol said.
