Mayor R.T. Rybak has formed a new state political action committee, but the mayor says it isn't an indicator of his future political actions.
"RYPAC," formed on Monday, allows Rybak to raise money for state campaigns. He said Tuesday that he intended to form it two years ago, after his failed gubernatorial bid, but had to first tackle debt from that campaign account.
Rybak's political future has been a hot topic of discussion at City Hall lately, as he weighs whether to run for a fourth term. Two city council Members, and one former council president, are exploring runs for his seat.
“I wouldn’t too read much into [the PAC] because, for starters, I haven’t decided whether I’m running again,” Rybak said. “I may over time be involved in statewide issues. But it’s nothing that we have any plans for right now.”
$2,500 $2,300 was left over after clearing out the campaign debt, "So [we] put it into an account that we really frankly haven't thought much about how to use yet."
