A young man died from a drug overdose in a Minnetonka home, and two people there have been arrested in connection with the death, authorities said Tuesday.

The man, who was in his early 20s and lived elsewhere in Minnetonka, died Friday at a house in the 16500 block of Limerick Lane, said Police Chief Mark Raquet. The man, whose name has yet to be released, had been injecting heroin and methamphetamine, Raquet said.

Police arrested a 37-year-old man from Maple Grove that afternoon on suspicion of trying to destroy or tamper with the illicit drugs at the scene, the chief said. A 21-year-old woman who lives with her parents at the address where the man died was jailed on a drug possession charge.

On Saturday afternoon, the woman was pulled over on Hwy. 101 in Minnetonka and arrested again, this time for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possessing a controlled substance.

Raquet said, "I think it was just happenstance" that the woman was arrested one day after the death at her house.

Both have been released pending charges.
