Jeff Dubay, the sports talk cohost of the popular 9-noon show with Paul Allen on KFAN (100.3 FM) until legal troubles with drug addiction got him fired, is behind the microphone starting Monday morning for a full week.

Dubay, 44, is now going head-to-head against Allen all this week on AM1500 as a co-host with Judd Zulgad.

"Grateful to ESPN 1500 for the opportunity," Dubay said in a tweet last week, calling his return to broadcasting an "on-air audition."

Dubay, a Minnesota Twins batboy in the late 1980s and early 1990s, spent a chunk of his time near the end of Monday's show breaking down the team's possible pitching rotation for next season.

In August, Dubay filled in as a guest co-host on Eric Perkins' morning show on KTWN (96.3 FM), the next broadcast home for the Twins.

Dubay's addiction to crack cocaine led to his arrest in 2008 and time in the workhouse in 2010. It also led to KFAN firing him after 10 years as co-host with Allen.

During an interview on WCCO Radio in July, Dubay said he started experimenting with crack during a difficult divorce. He was critical of practices at some treatment centers (he went to three) and said he finally kicked his habit by locking himself in his bedroom.
