TV critic's picks for Friday, Dec. 14

Hopping to it

Holiday bunnies pick up an extra gig in "Peter Rabbit's Christmas Tale" (6 p.m. Friday, Nick), a new animated special based on Beatrix Potter's best-selling children's books. Don't tell the reindeer about this or they'll insist on crashing Easter Sunday.

The First Family

One week, Barbara Walters is pretending she finds One Direction "fascinating." The next, she's sitting down with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for a special episode of "20/20" (9 p.m. Friday, KSTP, Ch. 5). Look for a guest appearance by First Dog Bo.

Happy holidays, I must say

"Saturday Night Live" (10:30 p.m. Saturday, KARE, Ch. 11) gives us the ultimate gift by bringing Martin Short on as host. We'd be more excited about musical guest Paul McCartney if we weren't so concerned that he'll drop a piece of coal, aka the song "Wonderful Christmastime."

Last dance

Ciara, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato pay tribute to elders Whitney Houston and Donna Summer in "VH1 Divas" (8 p.m. Sunday, VH1). All proceeds go toward the VH1 Save the Music Foundation and to those people who now can't get "Hot Stuff" out of their heads.
