Christina Applegate and Will Arnett star in "Up All Night."

TV critic's picks for Thursday, Dec. 6

Winning play

I'm not sure what goes on at the "College Football Awards" (6:30 p.m., ESPN), being broadcast from Orlando, but based on my experiences with other awards shows, I'm going to assume there will be a musical in memoriam to all players who had to play for Illinois.

Back to the drawing board

There are only a few more chances to see "Up All Night" (7:30 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11) as a single-camera comedy. The show is being yanked off the air and retooled as a multi-cam, something star Christina Applegate can relate to from her days of being hooted at on "Married ... With Children."

Strike a pose

You would think there's been enough said about Vogue over the past few years to fill one of its September issues, but "In Vogue: The Editor's Eye" (8 p.m., HBO) manages to find new topics to explore by focusing on the creative, and often difficult, fashion editors. Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker weigh in on the challenges of feeling pretty.
