A 12-year-old boy brought a baggie of methamphetamine to school and alerted his principal that his mother was an addict, according to authorities in Wright County.

Sabina M. Coolen, 32, of Chatham Township, was charged Friday in District Court with keeping meth paraphernalia in the presence of a child, a felony.

According to the criminal complaint:

The boy took the baggie of meth from his mother's cigarette pack and gave it to his principal "to show that [his mother] was using narcotics," the complaint read. The principal turned over the baggie to law enforcement officials.

The boy told authorities that he has access to keys to a safe at his home. Authorities located the safe last Tuesday and discovered a glass pipe with burned white meth in it. The safe also contained Coolen's expired driver's license.
