Blue Christmas

Rod Stewart continues his efforts to completely transform himself into a schlock artist in "Rod Stewart, Merry Christmas, Baby" (9:30 p.m. Saturday, KTCI, Ch. 17). Michael Bublé and Mary J. Blige show up to help Stewart warble some predictable holiday tunes, but at least it was their choice. The same can't be said for the image of poor Ella Fitzgerald.

You dirty rats

"Boardwalk Empire" (8 p.m. Sunday, HBO), perhaps the best show this year not called "Breaking Bad," concludes its third season with everyone reeling from the rat-a-tat-tat of twists. I'd tell you what happens, but then I'd have to have Al Capone kill you.

Honest Abe

Daniel Day-Lewis is too busy cobbling shoes to do the talk-show circuit, but he's sitting down with his "Lincoln" director Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey for "Oprah's Next Chapter" (8 p.m. Sunday, OWN). Wonder which one of them twisted Day-Lewis' arm harder.
