Author Carol Hadrits and illustrator Shirley Engen will be at the Lake Elmo Public Library, 3537 Lake Elmo Av. N., at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with their children's book, "Whose House Is It Anyway?"

The book is Hadrits' first for children and is based on a real-life experience that took place in the old-fashioned farmhouse where Hadrits lives with her husband in Woodbury.

The book is about a gingerbread house that Grandma Annie makes. Parts of the gingerbread house mysteriously disappear and she thinks Grandpa Elmo has been sneaking his favorite pieces. It turns out a little mouse who lives in the attic has been visiting during the night.

Hadrits has written several nonfiction articles for publication. She has written another children's book, "Andy's Big Day," also illustrated by Engen.

Engen is an artist and illustrator whose favorite subjects are children, flowers and landscapes. She has been a featured artist in the Courage Card collection and her commissioned religious paintings appear in several churches. She and her husband live in Newport. She will be bringing some of the original illustrations of the book to the program.
