Preview: Gophers women vs. Virginia

Gophers at a glance: A 6-1 start earned the Gophers four votes in this week's USA Today coaches' poll. It's their first time receiving votes in that poll since April 2009. ... They are the only Big Ten team with six victories this season. Four have come at Williams Arena, extending their home winning streak to 10 games dating to last February. ... The Gophers are 2-3 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, which this game is a part of, and 3-1 in four games played against Virginia from 2003-07. ... Freshman guard Mikayla Bailey, who has started every game and leads the Gophers in three-point shooting percentage (.545), is ill and her status is uncertain.

Virginia at a glance: The Cavaliers (4-1) received 12 votes in this week's AP poll and four in the USA Today poll after defeating No. 17 Vanderbilt in the San Juan Shootout in Puerto Rico. Their only loss, 74-73 to Syracuse in their second game in Puerto Rico, came when the Orange made two free throws with four-tenths of a second left. ... Virginia is 4-1 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Sarah Imovbioh, a 6-2 sophomore from Nigeria, is averaging a team-high 15 points and 7.8 rebounds; she is shooting 67 percent from the floor.
