Gophers wrestling coach J Robinson became the program's all-time winningest coach when his team won three matches Saturday at the Bison Quad in Fargo.

The Gophers beat Eastern Michigan 36-4, North Dakota State 22-12 and Itasca Community College 39-0.

Those three wins improved Robinson's record to 394-129-4 in 27 seasons. He passed Wally Johnson, who coached the Gophers from 1952 to 1986, and had 392 career wins.

Minnesota also became the sixth school with 900 wins in their program's history.

Kevin Steinhaus was one of the Gophers' top wrestlers at this tournament. He had two major decisions and a pin at 184 pounds.

Harms, U finish well

Senior outside hitter Katherine Harms had 16 kills, including the 1,000th of her career, as the Gophers beat Indiana 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 on Saturday in Bloomington, Ind., to finish tied for second in Big Ten volleyball.

Harms also had 11 digs for the Gophers (24-7, 15-5). Middle blocker Tori Dixon had 12 kills and a .750 hitting percentage.

The Gophers will learn their postseason fate during the NCAA tournament selection show at 3 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU. They are assured of being one of the 64 teams.

U women score 10 goals

The Gophers women's hockey team routed New Hampshire 10-2 on Saturday behind five-point games from Hannah Brandt and Amanda Kessel.

Brandt, a freshman center, had a hat trick and two assists. Kessel, a junior right wing on Brandt's line, had two goals and three assists. They remain tied for the NCAA lead in scoring with 43 points.

The victory was the 23rd in a row for the Gophers and their 14th consecutive on the road -- one shy of the NCAA record. The No. 1-rated Gophers (15-0-0) outshot the Wildcats 37-9.

The Wildcats didn't test Gophers goalie Noora Raty much.
