Excelsior & Grand Panera Bread closing

The Panera Bread at Excelsior & Grand is closing. The store's last day will be Dec. 18.

Panera Bread said that all of the associates and managers who work there have found jobs at other nearby locations. Asked why the store is closing, a spokeswoman cited location and convenience for customers but declined to elaborate.

Panera Bread said it has 24 other locations in the Twin Cities area.

New fitness club opens this month

Koko FitClub has opened its first Minnesota location -- a Chanhassen club that opened Monday at 820 W. 78th St., near Byerly's.

The nationwide chain says it creates a customized training plan based on the member's goals and ability.

This information is then uploaded to a USB card, which members insert in the strength training or cardio machines at the club.

The Koko technology then guides members through their personalized workout.
