Twin Cities ski areas making snow

Time to break out the snow gear -- downhill ski and snowboard areas in the metro area have been making snow so they can open their slopes. Their schedules in coming weeks will largely be determined by the weather, but they will stay open if the weather is cool enough.

Afton Alps
Open now through Thursday, 3-9 p.m. Weekend schedule will be posted on its website.
Buck Hill
Open now through Friday, 3-8 p.m. Weekend schedule will be determined based on the weather and posted on its website.
Hyland Hills
Opening 9 a.m. Nov. 23. Schedule will be posted on its website.
Welch Village
Opening Friday, Nov. 23, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
Monday-Thursday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
