Dollar little changed in light trading

NEW YORK - The dollar is trading in tight ranges against other major currencies in light trading Monday.

Trading is light because of the Veterans Day holiday. The U.S. stock markets were open, but the federal government and the U.S. bond market were closed. There were no economic reports scheduled for release.

On Tuesday, traders will be closely watching a meeting of European Union finance ministers in Brussels. They will be discussing Europe's debt crisis.

The euro was practically flat at $1.2714 late Monday. It was worth $1.2713 late Friday.

The British pound fell to $1.5882 from $1.5903.

The dollar rose to 79.46 Japanese yen from 79.45 Japanese yen and fell to 0.9479 Swiss franc from 0.9487 Swiss franc.

The dollar slipped to 99.93 Canadian cents from 1.0004 Canadian dollar.
